Starting your search for people calmly, structured, and enjoyable

Mantrailing is a fascinating form of scent work in which a dog searches for a specific person using their individual scent. In our introductory mantrailing course, we offer you and your dog a calm, easy-to-understand introduction to this special form of teamwork.

This course is designed for human–dog teams who want to explore mantrailing without performance pressure and without prior experience. The focus is not on speed or perfection, but on a clear structure, well-defined steps, and positive learning experiences. Each dog is free to work at their own pace and experience success.

We build the search work step by step. Your dog first learns to identify a person’s scent and follow that trail. The entire process is playful, motivation-based, and supported by positive reinforcement. This creates a learning environment in which your dog can work calmly, with focus and independence.

The introductory course provides a safe setting in which you learn to observe and support your dog during the search without directing or controlling them. At the same time, you gain a solid understanding of the structure, process, and purpose of mantrailing.

Topics covered in the introductory mantrailing course include:

  • Taking and identifying an individual scent
  • Building the first trails in small, manageable steps
  • Calm, motivating leash handling during the search
  • Reading your dog’s body language while trailing
  • Meaningful confirmation at the find

You will learn to give your dog space, recognize their signals, and build trust in their abilities.

Your dog learns to concentrate on a task, find solutions independently, and follow a trail with enjoyment.

The introductory mantrailing course lays the foundation for more advanced trails and in-depth mantrailing programs. We guide you with expert knowledge, calmly and with a clear focus on what truly matters for a successful start.
